LONGER ARE THE ‘SHOWERS’ LESSER ARE THE ‘HOURS’.
On the day of my party in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, I was curious to get ready and flaunt my saree.
I woke up, took a bath for 15 minutes, and washed my face with acne free face wash but it took me 25 minutes to move out from the bathroom and start doing my makeup. I was happy, awaited for that moment but something changed my happiness to guilt.
THAT SOMETHING CHANGED MY LIFE.
I was screaming and calling out my brother’s name all around my home but then I caught him in the bathroom.
WHY IS THE DOOR STILL OPEN? IS HE IN THERE FOR REAL OR NOT?
I opened the door caught him using the phone sitting on a slab of brush corner and there is the hot water running from the tap and tub is almost filled but he is busy using his phone.
“DIDI CAN YOU PLEASE TURN OFF THE TAP,” he said
Thank god he just said that.
“AND PLEASE TURN ON THE SHOWER UNTIL THE HOT WATER COMES FROM THE SHOWER I WILL JUST SCROLL OVER MY INSTAGRAM.”
Blah! Here is the thing. SERIOUSLY?
“JUST GO AND TAKE a BATH AS IT IS ELSE WE ARE LEAVING YOU HOME.”
He went but all I was thinking of his attitude towards water and shower. Boy, he’s got this bad attitude.
DON’T WORRY, THIS DID NOT CHANGE ME.
Actually, when we were on the way to my school, a boy came and begged for what?
No man, he begged for water. The first time ever someone begged for
water, not money.
My mom gave him our bottle but that place, that moment changed everything.
What is water for us? I wonder that water has been used by all 2 crores and so
many more people all around the world but do we have any care about something we have been using for decades?
All around the world we’ve been talking about water, water shortage, water scarcity, water sustainability but have we ever looked into our home and thought about the amount of water we waste?
Let’s calculate roughly!
1 plastic bottle= 8 ounces(2 liters)
1 gallon = 128 ounces(16, eight-ounce glasses of water)
1 person= at least 3 liters of water to survive
1 bathtub= 302 liters of water
That is 1bathtub=80 gallons
1 person in 1 day= 3 lt.
1 person in 1 month= 3×30=90lt. Approx
1 bathtub= 302 lt.
People consuming 302lt.= 302/90=3.35 approx 3 people can consume water in 1 month
3 PEOPLE CAN CONSUME WATER OF A BATHTUB OF 1 DAY FOR A MONTH.
What should we use then?
Let’s calculate how much water each shower takes!
1 standard shower= 11.5lt/min.
Which is 1 shower= 2.5 gallons/min.
1 shower for 10 minutes=25 gallons= per min.
Good but old were the days when people used to take shower once a day with just one bucket, but who cares? Those were old one
Shower wonks have dubbed this extremely common pattern “behavioral waste,” or waste that occurs because of human habits.

Someone from my home just asked:
IS IT IMPORTANT TO TAKE SHOWER EVERYDAY?
I’d rather ask, is it important to have longer showers knowing the fact that someone’s hour are decreasing every second we stand under the
steal body thing called SHOWER?
This blog isn’t about explaining the cons and pros but it is about the
